A Chemotherapy nurse is tackling a series of silly dares and challenges to raise awareness and funds to fight an incurable cancer.

Emma Witheridge, from Didcot is a chemotherapy nurse at the Churchill hospital. In August she will be taking on the Badminton Tough Mudder along with her brother Damo Witheridge 33, and two friends Liz, 34 and Sarah Thomas 27 in aid of Myeloma UK.

Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer which is hard to diagnose, and it claims the lives of 3,000 people in the UK each year.

However, the endurance race Tough Mudder is not the only thing she is doing to raise awareness and money. Ms Witheridge and her friend are also asking people to suggest silly things for them to do in exchange for donations.

The group have bene filming the silly tasks and uploading them to YouTube.

Doing 50 squats while wearing goggles, a snorkel, and flippers, getting crazy makeovers and having cream pies thrown at them are just some of the bizarre challenges.

Ms Witheridge said: “I really want to raise awareness of the symptoms of myeloma and the struggle people have had to deal with it in the last few years, especially with Covid. Having that sort of diagnosis is hard anyway but I noticed during the lockdowns quite a deterioration in the mental health of the patients we saw at the hospital.”
