A raging ex was said to have thrown garden furniture against his former partner’s back door – as the woman sheltered inside.

Dean McAllister, 28, had already repeatedly pressed the doorbell of the house in Barnett Road, Abingdon, in an attempt to get inside on April 30.

He also called the woman, warning her with ‘words to the effect’ that ‘if you don’t let me in the police will be called’, Oxford Magistrates’ Court heard on Monday.

The dad-of-two began banging on a window so hard that his partner, who was sheltering inside with her young daughter, ‘genuinely thought it was going to break’.

She heard a bang against the back door, which she thought was her former boyfriend throwing a garden table.

The woman suggested he may have been holding a metal pole, although McAllister’s solicitor, Richard Damczuk, told the magistrates that this was the only part of her account that his client denied. No metal pole was found at the scene by the police and the house was not damaged.

Appearing before the justices on Bank Holiday Monday, McAllister, of Arnold Way, Grove, pleaded guilty to using violence to secure entry to a property.

He was released on bail to return to court on Wednesday, May 4, for an update from the probation service and sentencing. His bail conditions prevent him from contacting his ex or going to her home.
