A CARE home had started a new monthly “dementia café” to help those affected by dementia and their carers to socialise.

Waterside Court Care Home, in Winterbrook, Wallingford, is launching the café on Wednesday, June 29 from 2pm to 4pm.

The free café will take place on the last Wednesday of each month at the home to provide “small respite and social support”.

During the care group session, guests will also have a chance to meet the team at the home and to discuss any questions they might have about care.

Physiotherapist Will Ferguson will also be there to help guests as well as representatives from the National Institute for Health and Care Research.

General manager of the care home, Maraya Rabuka, said: “We’re really looking forward to making more friends in our local community.

“The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening, and the more support we can provide to each other, the better.

“If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea, our doors are always open.”
