THE roof of a house in Carterton has partially collapsed after a fire that started today (01).

Four fire engines were called to the home in Elm Close from Carterton, Burford, Witney and Abingdon fire stations at 12.01pm.

A high reach vehicle and a command unit from Oxford fire station are also present.

Fire crews made sure that everyone was safe and out of the house and have been tackling the fire using hose lines.

The roof has partially collapsed making operations more difficult but they are using a high reach vehicle to apply water.

A spokesman for Oxfordshire County Council said: “They are working with the police to investigate the cause of the fire.

“They are currently still on the scene and likely to be there for some time due to the severity of the incident and to conduct an investigation.”
