An Oxfordshire wildlife charity has said it is at full capacity due to a lack of staff.

Oxfordshire Wildlife Rescue, which is based in Blewbury, rescues, cares and rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned British wildlife.

So far this year the charity has taken in 2,334 animals and currently has 286 patients on the books.

Luke Waclawek, Oxfordshire Wildlife Rescue founder, said: “We are unfortunately closed to any further admissions due to capacity and lack of staff at the rescue.

“We are currently caring for a huge variety and capacity of sick and injured animals at this moment in time and we believe that any more admissions will start to have an effect on the quality of care given to our patients due to current staff issues.

“It's not the quantity that matters here, but the quality of care is something my wife and I have always stood by.”

Mr Waclawek “sincerely” hopes the public understand the team’s decision.

If you wish to donate items the rescue needs, you can do so via the Oxfordshire Wildlife Rescue Amazon wish list:

If you have found a sick or injured wild animal, the rescue say to take it to your nearest veterinary clinic, call the RSPCA or visit to find your nearest wildlife rescue centre.
