A respected horse trainer died following a ‘tragic’ horse-riding-related incident, an inquest has heard.
Jayme Plumb, 45, from Wantage, Oxfordshire, passed away following the incident in Newbury on June 21, 2022.
The Arab Racing Organisation (ARO) horse trainer died after suffering multiple injuries, a coroner said at the opening of the inquest into her death.
Reading Coroner’s Court heard how Jayme’s husband, Darren, confirmed her identity at John Radcliffe Hospital.
Senior Berkshire coroner Heidi Connor paid her ‘heartfelt condolences’ to Jayme’s family and friends at the hearing.
The inquest was adjourned to allow the court more time to gather evidence into the circumstances behind Jayme’s death, but a date for the inquest to resume was not set.
In a statement following her passing, the ARO said: “It is with great sadness that the Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) learned of the passing of Jayme Plumb following a tragic accident.
“Plumb, 45, had been registered with ARO since 2015, training horses for her and her husband Darren.
“Plumb’s first winner came in 2017, with Elyassaat who they had bought from Shadwell Estates and her most recent, Jeewan who won at Bath earlier this month [June], had come from the same source.
“Jeewan’s win had been particularly emotional as he had carried the colours of Darren’s late father.”
