A Wokingham man has been arrested after he was allegedly caught with cannabis in the dock at Reading Crown Court.

This newspaper understands the 24-year-old was temporarily remanded into custody after the class B drug was found on his person during a hearing on Wednesday, August 24.

It is understood the Wokingham man was being tried for a drug-related offence at Reading Crown Court.

He had been bailed, meaning he was free to leave the courtroom while the jury was deliberating.

It is believed he returned to the courtroom when verdicts were being given in his trial and he was subsequently cleared of the drug-related offence he had been accused of.

However, upon his arrival in the dock, court officers allegedly found cannabis in his possession.

He was temporarily remanded into custody, according to sources, before being arrested and taken to Loddon Valley Police Station.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “A 24-year-old man from Wokingham has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B controlled drug.

“He has been released under investigation.”
