A diversion route for the A34 has been put in place after an overturned lorry closed the road and the air ambulance was scrambled. 

This morning, reports of an overturned heavy goods vehicle on the road saw the A34 near Didcot closed.

Thames Valley Police, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue and South Central Ambulance Service are on the scene. 

The A34 is currently closed northbound between the A4130 (Milton) and the A415 Abingdon).

Traffic has been held on the southbound carriageway to allow the air ambulance to land.

Road users are advised to follow the Solid Diamond diversion symbol on road signs

  • Leave the A34 at the Milton interchange.
  • At the roundabout, use the 1st exit and join the A4130. Follow for approximately 2 miles to a roundabout at Rowstock. Use the 3rd exit and join the A417. Follow for approximately 5 miles into Wantage.
  • Continue to a T junction with the A338 (Seesen Way).
  • Turn right and join the A338. Follow out of Wantage. Continue for approximately 9 miles to the A420 roundabout.
  • Use the 2nd exit and join the A420. Continue for approximately 5 miles to the A34 Botley Interchange.
  • At the roundabout use the 1st exit to re-join the A34 Northbound.
