A retired couple took on a tandem skydive to raise money for an elderly, disabled and disadvantaged people’s charity.

Hilary Trimble, 74, and Ernie Trimble, 78, from Wantage, embarked on the demanding activity earlier this month at Dunkeswell Airfield, near Honiton.

The plucky pensioners are working to raise money for the Vale Community Impact (VCI) charity, which aid the elderly, disabled and disadvantaged within the Vale of White Horse region.

In a Facebook post leading up to the event, Mr Trimble said: “Hilary and Ernie, with numerous replaced body parts between them, will be doing a tandem skydive.

“They have already surpassed their initial target of funding for this charity and still seek further funding for this amazing initiative started largely by unpaid volunteers.

“VCI supports financially disadvantaged residents within the Vale of White Horse region; it offers a transport service for hospital, medical and other appointments staffed by volunteer drivers.

“It also offers a Good Neighbour Scheme for residents needing assistance or companionship.”

The couple have raised £1,146 so far, significantly more than their original target of £250.

Mr Trimble added: “Thank you to everyone who has supported us in this mad venture.

If you would like to donate towards VCI, you can do so through Ernie and Hilary’s Just Giving page here: Ernest Trimble is fundraising for Vale Community Impact (justgiving.com)
