KARL Robinson insists he is not feeling the pressure after a slow start to the season and a change of ownership at Oxford United.

Three wins and five defeats from their opening nine matches in Sky Bet League One see the U’s sit 19th in the third tier, two points above the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, the club’s protracted change of ownership was announced earlier this week, with Indonesian investors Anindya Bakrie and Erick Thohir finalising a deal which sees them take a controlling 51 per cent stake in the U’s.

Asked this week whether the current squad and management team have his backing, new chairman Grant Ferguson said: “Frankly, it’s not even been a matter for debate.

“We’ve all agreed we’re coming to a reset, the players are coming back and now we move forward.”

New co-owner Bakrie added: “We don’t want to be here, we want to be higher up.

“This is early days, we’ve got to give them a chance.”

Robinson shrugged off any suggestion he might be feeling the heat, although admitted that his side is not where it should be in the league table.

United’s head coach said: “If you speak to people in the football word, they know how hard we work.

“What we’ve always done, we achieve above where we should be.

“Right now, we’re underachieving.

“I’m in a great place at the moment, a lot of things externally and personally might be going on.

“If you walk in here, every single day you will see everybody pulling in one direction.

“I don’t get involved in the pressure question, I put myself under more pressure than anybody else has ever done, to the point it affects my private life, it affects everything for me.

“The football club means that much to me – I’m not an Oxford United fan, I’m a Liverpool fan, but this football club and the people have made me love this place.

“What this start’s done and this new chapter, it’s given me the biggest lease of life I’ve had for a long time.”

On United’s opening months of the campaign, Robinson added: “We haven’t started right but we know our process is right, we know our recruitment is right.

“Illness, injury and some personal situations that we don’t speak about have wobbled us a little bit.”
