New food hygiene scores have been handed to hospitality venues across the county, with one takeaway given a one-out-of-five score.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is responsible for rating hospitality venues across the country and gives them marks on a zero to five scale.

Zero being the lowest score and five the highest.

These are the latest results for the county:

West Oxfordshire

Star Cafe at West Oxon Motor Auctions in Bromag Industrial Estate, Witney was given a four-out-of-five score after an assessment on October 4.

It means that of West Oxfordshire's 221 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 188 (85 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

South Oxfordshire

Restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: The Coffee Stop at 5 Hithercroft Road, Wallingford; rated on November 8

• Rated 5: The Red Lion at Brightwell Street, Brightwell-Cum-Sotwell, Wallingford; rated on November 2

• Rated 5: Nora's Kitchen at Mount Vernon, Bakers Lane, Brightwell-Cum-Sotwell, Wallingford; rated on October 26

• Rated 5: The Chequers Inn at Berrick Salome, Wallingford; rated on October 19

• Rated 5: The Miller of Mansfield at High Street, Goring; rated on September 22

Pubs, bars and nightclubs:

• Rated 3: Jacobini at 35 Hart Street, Henley-On-Thames; rated on September 20


• Rated 5: Smarts Take Away at 129 Brasenose Road, Didcot; rated on October 26

• Rated 5: The Village Plaice at 35 High Street, Benson, Wallingford; rated on October 19


Turkish Delight at The Old Vicarage in Caversfield was given a score of just one after an assessment on October 4.

It means that of Cherwell's 106 takeaways with ratings, 60 (57 per cent) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
