This year you may struggle to get hold of your Christmas turkey or goose for the table because this year after an industry head said about half of them have died due to the country's largest-ever outbreak of bird flu.
The Chief executive of the British Poultry Council, Richard Griffiths said that 600,000 out of about 1.3m free range birds had been lost to the bird flu.
So, what exactly is bird flu. Bird Flu is defined as ‘a severe, often fatal, type of influenza that affects birds, especially poultry, and that can also be transmitted to humans.’
Due to the shortage of turkey and goose at Christmas, do you think people may choose to purchase from more local farms or may choose to have a meat free meal for Christmas?
