FORMER Prime Minister Boris Johnson was seen partying and ringing in the New Year in the Cotswolds.

The former MP for Henley was seen counting down to the New Year into a microphone, in what is believed to be a pub in Charlbury, Oxfordshire, according to the Daily Mail.

In a video obtained by the national newspaper, Mr Johnson appeared to be celebrating the start of 2023, surrounded by people wearing cowboy hats, at a barn dance where line dancing was taking place.

He was accompanied by his wife Carrie Johnson, as well as his sister Rachel Johnson, according to the Daily Mail piece and social media posts.

In a brief new year greeting posted on social media on the same evening, Mr Johnson made no mention of his unceremonious ejection from Downing Street – swiftly followed by his successor Liz Truss – or the cost-of-living crisis.

Instead, he delivered a boosterish message on the prospects for the economy and the opportunities opened up by Brexit following the end of the pandemic.

The pub where the party took place could have been one of three in Charlbury, including The Bull, the Rose & Crown or Ye Olde Three Horseshoes.

The Bull is known for being popular with David Cameron, another former Tory Prime Minister and the former MP for Witney.
