A pub in South Oxfordshire has been handed a new low hygiene rating.

The Red Lion, located at 39 Wallingford Road, Cholsey, Wallingford was given a two-out-of-five rating after an assessment on March 10, the Food Standards Agency shows.

The pub serves food as well as a range of drinks.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is responsible for rating hospitality venues across the country and gives them marks on a zero to five scale.

The rating suggests that improvement in food hygiene standards is necessary at the establishment.

Businesses which are given low ratings must make urgent or major improvements to hygiene standards.

The food safety officer will tell the business how quickly these improvements must be made.
