Children from a pre-school are engaging in innovative outdoor play thanks to a mini mud kitchen donated by Deanfield Homes.
The specially designed kitchen has be welcomed into Hagbourne Pre-School's play area, creating a space for the children aged between two and five to prepare imaginative culinary creations using mud, water, and sand.
Locally based social enterprise RAW, known for its waste wood recycling service which it offers to businesses, made the kitchen with repurposed wood collected from construction sites like Deanfield Homes’ Deanfield Green development.
The project has generated four social impact hours, which will contribute to providing further employment and training opportunities for adults and young people in the community.
Annette Gaskell, sales and marketing manager at Deanfield Homes said: "We are delighted to have an ongoing partnership with RAW’s recycling scheme across our developments and to be able to combine that with community projects."
Sheila Bayliss, play leader at Hagbourne Pre-School, said: "We’re incredibly grateful for the mud kitchen donation from Deanfield Homes.
"It’s quickly becoming a firm favourite with the children and is a great way to encourage creativity, role-play and interaction with nature.
Deanfield even provided mini chefs hats and aprons so the children could really look the part.”
Deanfield Green is a development of traditional homes in the semi-rural location of East Hagbourne.
