Wallingford's Ben Pitts has once again switched on his magical Christmas display to generate funds for Sue Ryder Palliative Care Hub South Oxfordshire.

The festive spectacle, located at The Street, Crowmarsh, is part of a fundraising tradition that Ben began after his dad was cared for by Sue Ryder.

43-year-old Mr Pitts said: “Christmas is a huge thing in my family, and we decorate our house with lights every year.

"After my dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, we decided to start fundraising for Sue Ryder through the festive display.

“We can’t speak highly enough about Sue Ryder for the care and support they gave my dad and the whole family during that difficult time after he died in 2021.

"What they have done for my family I can’t even put into words. This is the least we can do to support them, whilst also spreading some Christmas cheer.”

So far, the magnificently lit house has garnered more than £5,000 for the palliative care hub.

Mr Pitts said: “It’s great to know we have raised so much, it’s the least we can do.

"I used to decorate my house growing up with my dad, so I know this is something he would love to know we are still doing."

The display, running between 4pm and 10.30pm until New Year's Day, features thousands of lights and festive inflatables.

Sue Soffe, Senior Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder said: "We are so grateful to Ben for his brilliant support of Sue Ryder and are in awe of his dedication."
