Santa has paid a surprise visit to the children of Abbey Woods Academy in Berinsfield, flying past the school in a helicopter.

The visit is part of a number of festive activities taking place at the school, organised to mark the end of term.

Among the other activities was decorating a Christmas tree, making the Academy look fit for the time of year.

Pupils also enjoyed an interactive nativity story at St Mary & St Berin Church, in Berinsfield, led by Reverend Teresa Stewart-Sykes and Rev Sorrel Shamel-Wood, with the children learning about the nativity.

The community church was built by villagers in 1961 and continues to serve the village by offering a meeting place for the whole community.

Sophie Charter, Headteacher at Abbey Woods Academy said: "Staff and students at Abbey Woods have been working so hard all term and it’s been great to take some time to delve into some festivities over the last week.

"It was especially lovely to take some of the pupils to the local church for the interactive story experience, the church is such a brilliant asset to the village and it was wonderful for the children to be out and about engaging with their local community."
