A planning application to convert the flat above a Didcot nail salon into a one-bedroom apartment has been submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council.

The application seeks permission to alter the dwelling space into a one-bedroom, duplex apartment above Omai Nails in Broadway.

According to the planning application, the section to be converted “would be altered to provide a range of living accommodation at ground floor level with bedroom, bathroom and storage space at first floor level.”

It also states: “The proposals would necessitate minor external changes to the physical form of the approved building, including the provision of full height glazed door openings in the ground floor rear elevation, with a roof lantern added over the single storey section to provide additional natural light to the dining room/lounge.”

The document also added that several apartments in Didcot town centre have also recently been approved.

The application is currently in its consultation period, which is due to end on February 22. A target decision date of March 27 is scheduled.

In March 2022, an application was granted for the erection of single and two-storey extensions to the rear of the existing building, facilitating an extension to the retail unit at ground floor level, further creating a two-bed unit upstairs.

An application for a detached two-storey building at the rear to create two two-bedroom flats was rejected in November 2021.
