The Environment Agency has set to work clearing flood debris in Abingdon.

As river levels have now started to drop following rainfall this week, field teams from the Environment Agency have began carrying out annual maintenance on the River Ock.

Yesterday (Friday, February 9) maintenance work also involved removing debris from Trash Screens in Abingdon in locations including Radley Park Ditch and the River Stert.

Flooding in Abingdon yesterday caused increasing tailbacks on the roads and a crash on the A34.

The A34 southbound was temporarily blocked, resulting in queuing traffic due to accident and flooding from A4183 Oxford Road (Abingdon North) to A415 Marcham Road (Marcham Interchange).

The incident, which was first reported after 11am yesterday morning, was cleared fully after 4pm.
