Public notices are adverts placed by councils and other local authorities to inform people of developments in their areas.

They can cover a wide variety of topics that may impact your life.

They can include planning applications and appeals, road closures or proposals by pubs or nightclubs hoping to change their opening hours or make other variations.

The purpose of a public notice is to make sure anybody - either an individual or a group - with an interest has an opportunity to find out about and comment on the proposal before a decision is made on whether to allow it to go ahead.

 

Oxford road closure: Bassett Road in Headington will be closed from April 29 for work on water mains and disconnections expected to take until June 6 2024 to complete, working between 8am and 6pm.

Exemptions are included for emergency services , for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally.

 

Market Street pedestrianisation trial: Market Street will remain closed until April 26 for pedestrian-friendly improvements by Oxfordshire County Council.

Loading will be from Turl Street and High Street, with additional loading permitted within specific hours from Cornmarket. Pedestrians, bicycles, and cargo bikes will have continual access to the road throughout the construction phase.

The Market Street trial will last for 18 months. The trial earmarked for Market Street will run for 18 months during which time a formal consultation will be conducted for six months to gather public and stakeholder feedback.

Any decision regarding the permanence of the changes will be made before the end of the trial, based on the responses obtained.

The scheme forms part of a wider £6.8m regeneration of the Covered Market, featuring extended cycle parking and potential repositioning of the toilet block.

 

Gloucester Green premises licence: Bbuona Forchetta Ltd has applied to reinstate the premises licence at Scarpetta at 100 -101 Gloucester Green, Oxford, to sell alcohol similar to a previous licence that was approved, with only a few small changes to Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

It will allow the restaurant which has been running for over 10 years, to sell alcohol (Mon-Sat 12pm-11pm, Sun 12pm-10.30pm); late night refreshment (Mon-Sat 12pm-11pm, Sun 12pm-10.30pm) with opening hours (Mon-Sat 12pm-11pm Sun 12pm-11pm).

Goods Vehicle Operator’s Licence: Ben Walker trading as Zenn Events Ltd of 3 Brind Close, Steventon, is applying for a license to use Unit 7, Buildings Farm, Gozzards Ford, Abingdon as an operating centre for one goods vehicle and one trailer.

Any written representations should be sent to the Traffic Commissioner at Hillcrest House, 386 Harehills Lane, Leeds LS9 6NF stating the reason, by April 17. Representors must at the same time send a copy to the applicant at the address at the top of this notice.

 

Oxford United proposed stadium comments: Oxford United Football Club Limited has applied to Cherwell District Council to build a new stadium on land at Stratfield Brake in Kidlington.
