An Italian chain has invested £2million in opening and refurbishing a new restaurant in an Oxfordshire town centre.

Piccolino will open inside a Grade-II listed building on Market Square in Henley later this month on Monday, June 24.

The restaurant will be the chain’s 21st site and will boast 140 covers in the main restaurant area, a 38-seat patio and additional al fresco-style seating on Market Square.

It will serve a specially curated menu including ‘Carbonara Grande’, Roman carbonara from a pecorino cheese wheel, as well as salt-baked seabass, and cuts of meat, including 21-day aged Wagyu steaks.

Guests can enjoy classic Italian antipasti, such as 'Bruschetta Classica' and 'Carpaccio Di Fassona', which features thinly sliced beef served with rocket and parmigiano reggiano salad.

There is also a brunch offering, available only at selected Piccolino restaurants, and will be served at the Henley restaurant every day from 11am.

Individual Restaurants, the group behind Piccolino, opened a restaurant just across the Oxfordshire border in Marlow last month.

Andrew Garton, chief executive of Individual Restaurants, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of the brand-new Piccolino restaurant in Henley.

“The new opening marks an incredibly poignant moment for Piccolino as we grow in the Home Counties.

“At Piccolino, we are dedicated to serving the very best in Italian cuisine, ensuring Italy’s rich culinary heritage is at the centre of everything we do, and this is exactly what we are bringing to the community in Henley.

“We’ve explored every corner of Italy to bring our new menu to Henley and alongside our incredible team at Piccolino, we cannot wait to welcome guests to the restaurant to experience it with us.”
