TV percussionists Bang On! will be bringing their funky beat to one of Witney's most popular events - the Witney in the Pink Day, on October 4 - in aid of the Oxfordshire charity Against Breast Cancer.

The rhythmic duo were put in the national spotlight when they reached the semi-finals of ITV's Britain's Got Talent. And now they are bringing their drumming show, performed on a quirky kit, that utilises a table, chairs, a watering can, and other random items, to the town centre of Witney.

Their energetic visual show and funky sounds are sure to draw the crowds, and they will be performing in the square at Wesley Walk, behind the Methodist Church, on the Pink Day.

Bang On! is made up of Katie Stephenson and Dave Smith, who met at Brunel University, where they were both studying music.

She wrote a piece to be played on everyday objects, and it was very well received, giving Katie the confidence to expand the project.

She teamed up with Dave, formed Bang On!, and since then, they have performed worldwide, including a sell-out show at Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year, called The Joy of Junk.

In the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals, judge Simon Cowell described them as 'brilliant percussionists'.

Dave said: "We are taking part because this is a cause that means a lot to us."

Jeanne Chattoe, chairman of the Against Breast Cancer Witney fundraising team, said: "We are very lucky to have persuaded Bang On! to perform at the Pink Day - I am sure their show will be fantastic."

The seventh Witney in the Pink Day hopes to emulate the £5,000 raised last year for the charity's research into finding a vaccine for breast cancer.
