SCHOOLS across Didcot and Wantage have seen A-level success after results were released to students on Thursday morning (August 15).

Students across Oxfordshire have been celebrating their results and their acceptance into universities and internships across the UK.

At Didcot Sixth Form, a partnership between Didcot Girls’ School and St Birinus School, 10 per cent of all entries received A* grades.

Thirty per cent gained A* to A grades, 62 per cent gained A* to B grades and 98 per cent gained A* to E grades.

Over a fifth of students, 42, achieved an average grade of A* or A.

James Cross, director of Didcot Sixth Form, said: "We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students. They have been an outstanding group, showing determination, resilience, and a strong work ethic from the very beginning.

“What stands out most is the care and support they have shown for one another, as well as their leadership within our school community.

“They have made a positive and lasting impact, leaving a legacy of improvement and kindness. I have no doubt that each of our leavers is set for success in the diverse paths they have chosen to pursue."

Celebrations were also held at UTC Oxfordshire, based in Didcot, which is a STEM-focused school specialising in science and engineering.

Six per cent of all grades were A* to A, 29 per cent with A* to B and the average A-level grade was D+.

Headteacher Emma Reynolds, said: "I am incredibly proud of our students this year, with their technical results being notable.

“Their success reflects the hard work they have put in, not just during their time here, but especially in the face of challenges over the past few years.

“These results demonstrate their resilience, commitment, and the strong support network we have cultivated at UTC Oxfordshire.”

Over in Wantage at King Alfred’s Academy Sixth Form, nearly 30 per cent of all grades were A* or A.

Two students achieved four A*, 20 students achieved at least one A* and over 45 students achieved at least one A.

Headteacher Jonathan Smart said: “‘This is an impressive set of results for the academy. These outcomes are an improvement on our results from last year, and a clear indication of the direction of travel for the results obtained by students who attend the Academy’s Sixth Form. I

“In this regard, this confirms King Alfred’s Academy as being one of the highest-performing sixth forms in the region.

“I would like to congratulate all the students on these impressive results, and thank the staff for their efforts over the last two years.”
