An Oxford fire station has paid tribute to those who died in the September 11 terrorist attack in New York.
At 1.46pm on Wednesday, September 11, Rewley Road Fire Station remembered all 2,996 casualties, including 343 firefighters.
The firefighters who saved lives following the attack on the World Trade Centre 23 years ago were described as "heroes" by the station.
It said on social media: "The men and women of the New York City Fire Department were not expecting to deal with a disaster of this magnitude when they started their shift that morning, but they did what they had to do.
"Firefighters from far and wide also volunteered to do what was necessary. These people will be remembered forever."
