An Oxfordshire thug with a knife has been jailed after smashing up a Domino's Pizza joint as well as numerous other high street shops.

Callum Harris, 30 of no fixed abode, was sentenced to one year and eights months in prison at Oxford Crown Court for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a knife in a public place.

In addition he was guilty of numerous criminal damage to property offences, targeting a police station, a Salvation Army shop, John Mason School in Abingdon and a Domino's Pizza.

During his trial late last year, the court heard that when he was arrested, Harris blamed his "tattoos" and a "hedgehog".

At the hearing on Monday, August 17, Harris was given a number of concurrent sentences meaning they are all to run at the same time, with the longest given for possessing a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place.

He was handed two 20 month jail terms, for possessing a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place, namely a serrated blade, and for possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, a push knife.

He received another sentence for possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, this time a wrench and lasting 16 months.

For having an article, specifically a spanner, with intent to destroy or damage property the judge gave him half a year in jail.

Harris received three months jail time for numerous counts of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.

This includes Abingdon police station, a Thames Valley Police window and John Mason School, as well as Forrester's Hairdressing, Domino's Pizza, Tomazos Pizza and AIBC Accounting LTD.

In addition, he was sentenced for criminal damage to a One Stop and a Salvation Army charity shop.

Criminal damage is an ongoing issue in the Thames Valley region with numerous investigations launched and arrests over recent months.

Indeed, Mr Harris is not the only person to have been sentenced for the crime recently with Richard Barton been ordered to pay costs of £85, a victim surcharge of £48, a fine of £120 and compensation of £250.

The 40-year-old, of Keyser Road, Bodicote, Banbury, pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating and one count of criminal damage in Banbury on April 25 last year.

In addition, last month Adam Booth, 44, of Luther Street, Oxford, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage in Oxford on April 2 this year. He was ordered to pay a fine of £100.
