A man has been jailed for 12 months after he grabbed the wheel of an Oxford Tube coach on the M40 forcing it to overturn.

Thomas Roby, 21, of Cavell Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty on December 30 to causing danger to road users by interfering with a motor vehicle.

He was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court, sitting at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court today.

Roby was a passenger on an Oxford Tube coach travelling along the M40 between junctions three and two to London on August 30 last year when he grabbed the wheel from the driver and the coach overturned.

None of the 12 passengers were seriously injured and only one passenger required hospital treatment.
