PREPARATIONS are well under way for this year’s Wallingford Carnival.

Daisy Nisbet, ten, of Wallingford, has been chosen as the carnival princess for the event on Saturday.

She is pictured with her attendants, Shannon Allen and Abigail Rumble, both 11 and also of Wallingford.

Daisy was chosen for the role at a selection evening held in the town’s Portcullis Club. She will lead the carnival procession through the town in a donkey and trap provided by the Island Farm donkey sanctuary at Brightwell-cum-Sotwell.

Mayor Colin Dolton will open the festivities in Market Place at 11am, and the procession will travel through the town at about 2pm, finishing on The Kinecroft.

Events throughout the afternoon and evening will include an eagle and vulture show and live music.
