UPDATE: Daughter pays tribute to father who had a heart attack while driving
A 71-YEAR-old man has died after his car came off a rural road near the village of Sunningwell, south of Oxford.
The man died at the scene on Friday morning when his black VW Touran left an unclassified rural road linking Oxford Road and the village of Sunningwell.
Police, paramedics, an air ambulance and the fire service were all called to the incident which took place at around 10.30am.
The road was closed until 1pm while police carried out an investigation.
PC Peter Billingham, of the Roads Policing Unit at Abingdon police station, said: "The driver's next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. They are receiving support from a family liaison officer.
"We are investigating the circumstances of the incident and are appealing for witnesses to call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number, 101, quoting reference 43180043480."
