DOZENS of knives have been handed in during an amnesty in Abingdon.
The week-long campaign was launched on February 12 with red bins placed across the county.
Thames Valley Police has now revealed it collected 45 knives from its bin in Abingdon Police Station.
The initiative was part of Operation Sceptre, a national operation to reduce knife crime.
Meanwhile, the force has also arrested a man in Didcot after reports of unlawful manufacturing and selling of knives.
Figures show that knife crime increased by 32 per cent between April 1, 2016, and March 31 last year. Within the same period, possession offences rose by 27 per cent.
