Sir, So housing association Sovereign Housing wants to kickstart council plans to develop green fields west of Didcot by building 100 new homes (3,300-home estate work set to start, Herald, October 14).
By coincidence, 100 is the number of homes left empty by housing associations in South Oxfordshire, according to 2008 statistics published by the Department of Communities and Local Government.
These empty homes are part of a total of 1,500 in South Oxfordshire and the Vale and about 780,000 in England, a figure that has increased in each of the last three years.
Maybe someone should put their own houses in order.
