Abingdon Amblers climbed to second in Plastics Plus Midland League Division 5 after a competitive display in round two at Tilsley Park.

Fatima Jammeh Kinteh led the way with three victories from four throwing events.

She won the ladies’ shot put in a divisional record 11.21m, the discus in 33.04 and the javelin in 35.50.

Jammeh Kinteh was also second in the hammer with 28.02.

Dan Hamilton eased to victories in the men’s 1,500m (4mins 21.6secs) and 3,000m (9.15.9).

Georgia Harvey won her senior ladies’ 800m in 2.22.1 and was fourth in the 200m with 28.0 just minutes later.

Paul Fernandez, the defending champion, had to settle for third place in the Otmoor Challenge.

Despite beating his course record from 2012, the Abingdon Amblers rnners could not keep up with the pace set by winner David Bruce.

Amblers ladies came second in the team competition.

l Dan Hamilton finished second in round two of the Mota-Vation series at Bletchingdon.

The Abingdon Amblers man completed the undulating 4.25-mile course in 21mins 50secs – just five seconds behind winner David Bruce (Highgate Harriers).

l Kay Walsha, from Dor-chester, was the first lady home in the Chiltern Chase 10K at Ewelme, near Wall ingford.

Walsha completed the multi-terrain course in 38mins 38secs to finish seventh overall.

Newbury AC athlete Nick Jones, from Oxford, was the race winner by almost three minutes, clocking 34.37.
