JAMIE Essex’s second half goal saw Abingdon United fight back to draw 1-1 at Brimscombe & Thrupp in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.
United, who sit fourth from bottom, were forced to battle for a point after going behind in the 35th minute.
After Abingdon’s Cameron Hawtin cleared off the line to deny Ollie Pitt, the resulting corner was headed home by Chris Greenhough.
However, United were not behind for long as Essex fired home on 44 minutes.
After the break, Abingdon’s Kieran Cochrane thought he had given the visitors the lead but his effort was disallowed for offside.
United keeper Tom Plumridge was then called into action on a number of occasions to earn his side a point.
