WANTAGE-BASED Vale Taekwon-Do Club battled their way to third place at the English Taekwon-Do Championships in Guildford.

Around 60 schools entered the tournament, with Vale gaining seven gold medals, five silvers and 12 bronzes.

Instructor Carl Davis led the way, winning gold in the under 71kg sparring and silver in the 4th Dan patterns, earning his spot at the European Championships for the third year running.

Vicky Macey picked up gold in yellow belt patterns division and bronze in the under 55kg sparring, while Gabriella Rhodes triumphed in blue belt junior sparring.

There was further success for Ollie Grimes in the junior blue belt patterns, as well as picking up a silver medal in blue belt sparring, with Jamie Harmon collecting gold in the junior male red belt sparring and bronze in his pattern division.

Max Rhodes clinched gold in the under 10 green belt sparring as did Jamie Marren in junior blue belt.

Charlie Rhodes earned silver in junior blue belt patterns and bronze in junior blue belt sparring.

Silver medals were also picked up by Harry Davis and Aisha Macey, while Kuba Pienkos, Lucas Smyth, Ryan Woodsend, Bethany Woodsend, Ben Nickleson, George Wells and Eunice Grimes all went home with bronze.
