Mike Cook proved the scourge of Challow & Childrey as Abingdon Vale maintained their ten-point lead at the of Division 2 in The Oxford Times Cherwell League on Saturday.

Cook took 6-80 to set up a six-wicket victory for Vale in their derby clash.

Only Steven Burry (47) could get going in Challow's 159 all out, which Vale passed for the loss of four wickets thanks to Tom Pollard (63no) and Cook (31no).

Kingston Bagpuize looked well on course for victory when Rob Keates (106) and Martin Shepherd (58) put on 179 in 34 overs for the first wicket after being asked to bat at Horspath.

The team's total of 288-9 appeared to be an impregnable one.

Robbie Eason (80) and Adam Pitt (56) had other ideas, however, and Phil Chanel (80no) saw the home side to maximum points with just three wickets down.

Mark Crone's classy 118 and Roger Podbery's patient 50 enabled Challow & Childrey 2nd to declare one over early on 261-7 at home to Brackley in Division 4.

Duncan Wooloff (6-30) then destroyed Brackley, who were all out in just 21.2 overs for 109.

Andy Broughton (59) and Simon Pritchard (46) took bottom club Didcot to176-8 at Buckingham 2nd.

Matt Jones then took 5-57as the home side scrambled to 178-8.

Abingdon Vale 2nd's decision to bat first on a green pitch backfired when they were skittled for 118 by Great & Little Tew 2nd in Division 6.

Andy Harris (5-65) and Steve Murrey (4-25) did the damage for Tew, who reached 119-2 thanks to Dave Freeman (55) and Andy Harris (40no).

Wallingford's Trevor Spindler took his 18th wicket in three matches, but only drew at Bledlow Ridge 2nd in Division 6.

Spindler claimed 6-87 in Ridge's 196-9, but despite Lee Ainsworth's 51 and Rob Sessions (50no), the visitors closed on 185-9.
