Didcot Phoenix rider and club cyclo-cross champion Paul Lloyd was narrowly beaten in the Central Region Road Race Championship on the 12-mile Woodcote-Goring circuit.

Lloyd came second, with clubmates Mark Cox and Ian Middleton coming home in 14th and 23rd places respctively.

Didcot rider Mark Scanlan got under the magic hour markwith his time of 59mins 27secs in the Westerley CC 25 mile time trial. Mick Fountain recorded 1.04.10.

Lloyd won the club's ten-mile time trial on the Wallingford bypass course with a 22.22 only three seconds faster than Cox 22.25 Other Didcot times: I Middleton 23.29, S Luck 23.47, M Scanlan 24.04, A Allcock 24.05, N.Beale 24.18, S.Wright 24.34, J Seddon 25.06, S Molloy 25.16, J Thornhill 25.30, J Moody & L Makin 26.16 (tandem).

On the Stadhampton course, Cox got the better ofl Lloyd this time with a win in 22.47, Lloyd recorded 23 08. In third place was Alan Allcock 24.07.
