WHILE British rowers were amassing medals at Rio, Wallingford RCadded recorded with seven wins at Peterborough Summer Regatta, writes John Wiggins.
Three of the victories came from Peter King.
After winning the Masters C single over the 1000m course and then the 500m sprint, he also showed he can mix it with the youngsters the IM2 category.
The Wallingford's men's eight benefited from the return of several of their younger rowers from school and university
Stroked by Shiplake College's Tim Waller and, with St Edward's School's David Willcox at six, they won the IM2 event on the Saturday before these two combined on the Sunday to win in the IM3 double scull
Others from the eight – Tom Brock, Alex Lyons, Arthur Arnould and Dan Wilkinson – won IM2 fours.
Fiona Tomlin joined with Peter Watson, James Wright and Richard Thwaites in the IM3 coxed four to convert third place in Saturday's final to a 0.3 second winning margin in the Sunday sprint.
This weekend, the club will be following the fortunes of Brianna Stubbs and Ellie Piggott in the world championship at Rotterdam
