THE host club enjoyed a successful time at the 11th Moreton Beer & Cricket Festival over four days at North Moreton near Didcot.

Not only did the club win their two T20 matches against Conways Cavaliers Aldworth on Friday, but they also triumphed in the ‘grand’ six-a-side tournament on Saturday.

Moreton won an exciting final against regular Dutch visitors Amsterdam after losing to them in their third round-robin match.

Chris Macdonald (Moreton) and the Amsterdam duo of Stephan Hannema and Richardt Frenz, were the star batsmen in the tournament.

Macdonald was joined in the Moreton team by his sons Will, Charlie and Tom.

The round-robin match between Los Toros and Amsterdam 2nd was a thrilling tie.

The festival began with the Wallingford Pubs six-a-sides, won by The Keep, who saw off opposition from the Queen’s Head, Coachmakers Arms, and the Bear.

Unfortunately rain prevented any cricket on Sunday, when a ladies match between Misley Ladies (Essex) and Moreton plus a Moreton v Amsterdam T20 contest had to be cancelled.
