EDDIE Pepperell tees off at the Portugal Masters today on the back of climbing to a career-high world ranking.

The Abingdon golfer has risen nine places to 55th in the global standings after finishing tied for sixth at last week’s KLM Open.

It came as a major boost to his chances of securing a top-50 place by the end of the year.

It was also Pepperell’s fifth top-ten finish of the season, lifting the 27-year-old to 13th in the European Tour standings.

He tees off at 8.40am today in Vilamoura, partnering Andrew Johnston and Jordan Smith.
