BERINSFIELD moved up to second in the North Berks League Division 1 table after seeing off visitors East Hendred 4-2, writes Richard Underwood.

Max Palmer, Brian Rawlings, Harvey Moore and an own goal made up their tally, with Kieran Hughes (pen) and Jordan Parrott, on his debut, replying.

Shaun Harris scored the only goal as Westminster beat Steventon 1-0.

In Division 2, East Hendred Res eased past Long Wittenham Res 3-0 with Liam Eltham (2) and Liam Revel on the mark.

Cholsey United went goal crazy as they blitzed Hanney 66 Club 17-1 in the first round of the North Berks League Cup.

Charlie Lee led the way with a double hat-trick, while Martin Dawson added a treble.

Two goals apiece from Louis Chainey and Craig Massey, plus further goals from Max Gallagher, Kane Galliford, Howard Hawkins and Dan Woods completed the rout, with James Ledbury claiming Hanney’s scant consolation.

Division 2 side Blewbury posted a 4-0 win at Ardington.

Arran Gray scored twice, with Warren McCabe and Jack Kitchener also netting.

  • Holders Saxton Rovers crashed out of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy at the first hurdle after they fell to a 3-0 defeat at home to Hellenic League side Wallingford Town.

Luke Williams fired Wallingford ahead, and then Evan Aitchinson made it 2-0 as he headed past keeper Jack Absolom.

In the second half, Charlie Silkstone made it 3-0 to wrap up Wallingford’s comfortable victory.
