OXFORD Hawks gave leaders Stourport a real scare before losing their Investec Women’s Conference West clash 3-2 – the winning goal coming just three minutes from full time.

Boasting a 100 per cent record and having conceded just one goal all season, the hosts were stunned when they fell behind early on.

A reverse stick strike from Poppy Webb was saved by the keeper on to the post, where Katie Lowe was on hand to tap in the rebound.

Stourport hit back and levelled minutes before half-time from a penalty corner.

The hosts went ahead after the break, but were pegged back when Hawks made it 2-2 after great work from Becca Edwards was well finished by Catherine Reaney.

It looked as though they would hold out for a point, but the leaders struck with just three minutes remaining to maintain their position at the top of the table.

A depleted Witney went down 2-0 at home to Spencer in Division 1 of the South League.

The visitors took an early lead from a penalty corner.

Witney, missing several key players, grew into the game with Abi Flory and Hayley Dobson making countless forging runs.

However, they could not find a way through and Spencer broke to score against the run of play to seal victory.

Amy Litchfield’s second-half goal gave Oxford a 1-0 victory over Woking in Division 2.
