WANTAGE’S Vale Taekwon-do Club have enjoyed their most successful UK Championships.

A sensational haul of 35 medals saw members return from Guildford with 13 gold, eight silver and 14 bronze.

Not to be outdone, Didcot TKD also had an event to remember, Kirsty Miller again their stand-out performer.

Wantage’s super showing secured a top-three finish out of 52 schools.

England internationals Charlie Rhodes, Gabriella Rhodes and Lilly Emptage all claimed victories in their sparring divisions, while Ryan Woodsend and Carl Davis claimed silver.

Vale’s gold medal tally was bolstered by Lilly Bunting (junior green belt patterns & sparring) and Charlie Molly (-10 years yellow belt patterns, flying kicks), who also claimed silver in sparring.

Victoria Davis added gold (adult female red belt patters) and silver (sparring), while Carl Davis (3rd & 4th degree adult black belt patterns) and Iva Ferjentsikova (lightweight green belt sparring) were also victorious.

Harry Bevan (-10 yellow belt sparring) and Eden Oakley (-14 green belt patterns) won gold, with Benny Stoten (-10 years sparring) claiming silver.

Marin Krachunov (adult male yellow and green belt sparring) took silver, while Sami Grimes (-14 red belt patterns), Ellis Footner (junior blue belt sparring) and Henry McClintock (junior green belt sparring and patterns) won bronze.

Arthur McClintock (junior yellow belt sparring), Max McClintock (-14 yellow belt sparring) and Maisie Bevan (-14 yellow and green belt sparring) took bronze to complete a remarkable haul for the club.

Miller lit up the competition with a double gold in lightweight sparring and 4th Dan patterns, with England captain Ricky De-Winton also claiming gold in his sparring division.

Seren Fullbrook added a silver and a bronze, while her younger sister Naoise performed well but narrowly missed out on a medal.

The Betteridge family claimed a hat-trick of gold medals, with mum Lisa-Marie winning sparring, alongside children Yasmin and Lucas.

Connor Fisher (sparring), Amber Luker (blue belt patterns) and Dylan Bradbury all took gold, while Lily Mai Bradbury, Charlie Lewis and Harvey and Maddi Claridge all won silver medals, as did Grace Miller, competing for the first time, in junior green belt patterns.

Luke O’Sullivan’s bronze completed the impressive haul, with debutant Charlie Guimaraes fought valiantly but ultimately lost to a more experienced opponentl.
