KARL Robinson will make a late call on his starting XI to face Forest Green Rovers tonight, but is boosted by the return of Jamie Mackie and Gavin Whyte.

The winners of the Emirates FA Cup first round replay at The New Lawn will book a trip to Plymouth Argyle on December 1.

Mackie is back after serving a one-match ban, while Whyte returned to the country yesterday after being away on international duty with Northern Ireland.

The 22-year-old came off the bench for the final 16 minutes in a 2-1 defeat to Austria on Sunday night and Robinson confirmed the winger would feature against Rovers this evening.

Ricky Holmes and Marcus Browne played in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Gillingham despite carrying knocks and are doubts for tonight.

Luke Garbutt missed the game with a hamstring injury and the U’s head coach will wait for clarification on their fitness before picking his side.

Robinson said: “We’ll take stock.

“The team will be picked at five o’clock which gives us a longer period of time to see where the players are at with different tests.”

Mackie was forced to miss Saturday’s crucial win over the Gills which saw the U’s climb out of the Sky Bet League One relegation zone for the first time this season.

The 33-year-old is raring to go and insists he is fit to start against tonight’s League Two hosts.

Mackie said: “I’m ready to play. Hopefully I get the nod and after having ten days out, I’m eager to get on the pitch.”
