OXFORD Hawks produced their best performance of the season – but lost 4-3 to league leaders Olton & West Warwick after a controversial goal five minutes from time.

The visitors got off to a bad start in the Men’s Conference West clash when the hosts went 2-0 up in five minutes.

But Hawks stuck to their task and were soon level when Andy Watts struck in the 12th and 17th minutes.

The hosts went back in front four minutes before half-time.

However, Hawks hit back again to level at 3-3 midway through the second half when Matt Woods finished with a reverse stick shot.

Olton looked dangerous on the break and it was from one such attack that they grabbed what proved the winner – although the final touch appeared to come off a knee rather than stick.

Oxford OBU recorded a 4-2 victory at MBBO Regional Division 1’s bottom side Amersham & Chalfont.

Matt McKeown (2), Hector Lyons and Worcester Bowden were on target.

Witney won 4-1 at Sonning, thanks to goals from Tim Chilvers, Ryan Fitz-John, Ben Kirk and Charlie Walker.

Oxford Hawks 2nd went down 2-0 at leaders Maidenhead.

Wallingford remain in the bottom three after a 2-1 defeat at Marlow. Tom Ferris scored for the visitors.

OXFORD Hawks remain winless at the Investec Women’s Conference West league mid-season break after a 1-1 draw at home to Reading.

However, a deflected shot gave the visitors an equaliser.

Henri Gordon went close after the break, but Hawks could not find a winner.
