ABINGDON Vale’s members scooped more than 100 medals to win the top visiting club trophy at the WDSC County & Regional qualifier gala.

The haul at High Wycombe included 39 golds across three days of competition.

Tom Bracher led the way with eight medals, while Olly Hodgson, Phoebe Paul and Seb Rawes claimed seven apiece.

The other major boost from the event was the high number of county qualifying times across the age groups.

Amanda Ford, Vale’s head coach, said: “It was great to see the club come together and for all the swimmers’ hard work pay off.

“The younger swimmers showed excellent attitudes and poise under the excitement of race day and everyone should be very proud of their results.”

It followed on from the club’s record success last month at the National Swim League competition.

That saw them qualify for the Premier Division final of the West Midlands League.

It will be held in Rugby this weekend.
