THE prolific Will Heywood ensured Oxford OBU finished the first half of the MBBO Regional Division 1 season just a point off top spot.
Heywood blasted a five-timer in a 10-0 thrashing in challenging wintry conditions against visitors Reading 3rd.
Henry Vallis added a hat-trick, while Matt McKeown and Worcester Bowden were also on target.
Witney also broke up for Christmas on a high, with a 4-1 victory at home to basement boys Amersham & Chalfont.
The strugglers led at half-time, but the hosts dominated the second half and registered through Ryan Fitz-John (2), Fraser Barnard and Ben Kirk.
Oxford Hawks 2nd came out on top in an 11-goal thriller at Wallingford in a bitingly cold and wet clash.
The visitors triumphed 6-5 at the Hithercroft, thanks to goals from Ian Gurden (2), Matthew Wood (2), Tommy Dawes and Sam Windsor-Lewis.
Wallingford had led 5-4 through Tom Ferris (2), Daniel Pilbeam (2) and Connor Blakey.
But Hawks hit back to deny the hosts.
