WALLINGFORD begin their 125th anniversary celebrations this weekend.

The club, who boast nine senior sides, have a number of events planned this year, starting on Saturday with the Vice Presidents Day.

Five teams will be in action at their Wallingford Sports Park home, with the Ladies 2nd XI facing Oxford University 3rd in an historic match in Trysports Three Counties League Division 1.

The fixture is in memory of the first game played by a Wallingford side in 1894 against Oxford alumni.

The club are also hosting a race night in the evening.

Meanwhile, Wallingford’s men slipped to the bottom of MBBO Regional Division 1 on goal difference, when falling to a 2-1 defeat at Reading 3rd.

Tom Ferris netted for the visitors.

Philippa Morris scored a late winner as there was better news for Wallingford’s ladies, who extended their unbeaten run to six games in Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1.

Morris hit both goals in a hard-fought 2-1 win at home to Newbury & Thatcham.
