EDDIE Pepperell birdied four of the final six holes to salvage his closing round at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
The Abingdon golfer went into today at the Emirates Golf Club on eight under par.
This was after a three-under round of 69 on Saturday which moved Pepperell up the leaderboard.
However, a slow start today saw the Frilford Heath member fail to birdie any of the opening 12 holes.
And with two bogeys, Pepperell had slipped well down the field.
But he picked up his first shots with back-to-back birdies at the 13th and 14th.
A par followed, before a bogey at the 16th stopped his progress.
However, he ended in style with birdies at the final two holes to finish in a share of 38th place, which earned him just over €17,000.
The event was won by American Bryson Dechambeau, who shot a new tournament record of 24 under.
