OXFORD OBU scored 17 goals across two games as they took maximum points to go second in the table.

Will Heywood’s six-timer helped the side hammer basement boys Wallingford 13-1 in MBBO Regional Division 1 on Saturday.

Sean Cox netted four goals across the weekend, including a double as Oxford followed that up with a 4-2 win over Oxford University 2nd.

Against Wallingford, they were 4-0 up after 20 minutes.

Oxford’s dominance continued after the break as they added a further nine goals, with Sean Cox (2), Tom Boon (2), Jamie Bloomfield, Matthew McKeown and Henry Vallis joining the prolific Heywood on the scoresheet.

Tom Ferris netted Wallingford’s consolation goal late on.

Cox also scored twice in Sunday’s victory over Oxford University 2nd.

But they were made to work hard for the win as the visitors led 2-0 at the break, thanks to goals from Dilip Goyal and Samuel Greenbank.

However, Cox’s double, as well as goals from Zum Akhter and McKeown, helped Oxford secure victory.

Oxford University had also been in action on Saturday, but Bradley Young’s strike proved in vain in a 2-1 defeat at OMT.

James Lawton-Smith scored twice as fourth-placed Oxford Hawks 2nd beat Marlow 2-1 at home.

Witney fell to a 4-0 defeat at leaders Maidenhead.

The visitors created several chances, but the hosts’ cutting edge proved the difference.

Meanwhile, Ellie Norton and Sunny Wallis were on target, but Witney’s ladies fell to a 5-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove in South Clubs’ League Division 1.

In Division 2, Oxford lost 4-0 at home to Hampstead & Westminster 2nd.

Wallingford also suffered defeat, losing 4-1 at home to Slough 2nd in Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1.

A Connie Potts strike at a short corner levelled the game at half-time, but the visitors proved a cut above after the break.
