A NUMBER of south Oxfordshire clubs will be represented at this week’s European Taekwondo Championships in Italy.

A squad of 13 from the county, including Didcot, Vale TKD and Abingdon members, begin their bids in Rimini tomorrow.

And they prepared for the event with a superb set of results at the English Championships.

Vale’s return of 46 points from 16 competitors in Guildford was one of the Wantage-based club’s best students-to-points ratio.

Leading the way was Lilly Bunting, who won double gold and a bronze in the junior female colour belt patterns, sparring and special technique (flying kicks) divisions.

Also claiming multiple golds was Aisha Macey in her patterns and sparring colour belt divisions.

Vale instructor Carl Davis continued his four-year winning streak by claiming gold in the 3rd & 4th Degree Black belt patterns.

He also took silver in the 78kg sparring, dethroned by fellow student and England member Sean McIntyre, who came second in the 1st Degree Black belt pattern.

Harrison Moore and Charlie Molley also claimed gold, with Maisie Bevan, Benny Stoten and Sami Grimes landing silvers, while the latter also clinched bronze.

Natasha Turner, Harry Bevan, Marin Krachunov and Victoria Davis also won bronze.

Didcot enjoyed a successful championships, with Brooke Claridge landing two golds, while Ceridwen Morgan, Charlie Rhodes, Yasmin Betteridge, Isabelle Naylor, Lucas Betteridge and Charlie Lewis were also victorious.

Silver medals were won by Kirsty Miller, Gabriella Rhodes, Seren Fullbrook, Sienna Carbonari and Lisa-Marie Betteridge.

Harvey Claridge took home two bronze medals, with Luke Morgan, Otto Spencer, Joshua Brain and Connor Fisher also finishing third.
