CHARLTON Athletic are hoping to turn the early kick-off at Oxford United tomorrow to their advantage in the race for automatic promotion.

An 11-game unbeaten run has put the Addicks into the race for automatic promotion.

With Luton Town expected to claim one of the top two spots, Lee Bowyer’s side are the outsiders in a four-way battle.

But the 1pm Good Friday start at the Kassam Stadium, changed on police advice, offers them an opportunity to move alongside second-placed Barnsley before the other sides start.

Bowyer told the South London Press: “It’s not a bad situation to be in – if they (Barnsley) see us sitting level on points.

“It might put them under a little bit of pressure.”

He added: “We are out of it, on paper, because we have got three teams ahead of us.

“To ask three to mess up is a lot. One or two is a push as well.

“But there’s a chance. There’s definitely a chance.

“I’m looking forward to these last four. If we get through (Oxford) then it will be exciting for the last three.”

But United drew 1-1 at the Valley in October and have only lost once at home in 2019.

Bowyer said: “I think all games now between now and the end of the season are banana skins, there are no easy games.”
